Desk Mess Mirrored 1.9
This version of Desk Mess Mirrored should correct the issues found in previous versions with the use of Custom Menus. All of the changes and modifications that were introduced in version 1.8.7 are also included. If you use the Child-Theme Multi, please update to its current version 1.9 as well. The changes made in Desk Mess Mirrored version 1.9 have a direct impact on Multi’s functionality.
Edit: Please insure you are using the current version of Multi (2470), version 1.9. EAC

@cais, DMM updated to 1.9, Multi 1.8.7 (it did have additional header.php file). Now no custom menus show.
@Andy – What would I do without you?! Multi version 1.9 will be going up shortly …
Fewer headaches maybe.
@cais, I see the new Multi theme, looking at the files you’ve done a great job of putting in revision information. Is it correct? The only file with “current” revision info in style.css. I usually just replace the changed files. I’ll replace all this time, just in case.
@cais, Updates in place. Back to partially styled custom menus.
@cais, it seems like the new header.php file in Multi doesn’t include .nav-menu anywhere. Only diffs look like to #cup area.
@cais, hold on a sec. I just realized changes to fuctions.php where I had changes in dmm_nav_menu
@Andy – Yes, the menu class `.nav-menu` is now part of the ‘wp_nav_menu’ function calls.
@cais, OK my child functions.php updated. Custom menus now show correctly but they are pinned to top of window.
@Andy – Everything looks to be in the right place to me. What do you mean by “pinned to top of window”?
@cais, OK it was ALL (mostly) my fault. I had a custom header image and so I set #cup, #logo, #headerleft to display:none. When I reset them to visibility:hidden all seems well.
Thanks @cais. I didn’t mean to cause extra grief.
No worries, you might want to add this bit of CSS to the style sheet (it’s not affecting your site, but it does affect Desk Mess Mirrored in general):
ul.children li.comment { list-style: none outside none; }It will be going in the next revision.
Hi Edward,
This is an absolutely wonderful theme. I am still using an older version, which is working extremely well for me. However, all of this is new to me, so please forgive my question.
I cannot find the HOME page, which appears as a sticky after another page is clicked. What is confusing for me is I am using another page as my home page?
What is the relationship here.
Also, if I create a custom menu (for learning purposes) and it does not look the way I want it to, can I go back to the standard menu that is showing now?
Thanks,
DL Lieberman
@DL -Thank you. The “Home” sticky note is generated by the default menu code to show at the beginning of the list of pages in the top menu. I always recommend not creating a page with the title of “Home” due to this; or, I recommend using a Custom Menu.
IF you create a custom menu but decide you do not like it later, simply use the drop-down selector to choose the ‘blank’ option or delete the Custom Menu and the default menu will return.
I have a question. I use this design for my blog and I always do the “updates.” About a month ago I did an update that seems to have erased my previous pages. You can no longer scroll down to the bottom of the page and see my previous posts. Any thoughts on how I can fix that?
Thanks
Sharon
@Sharon – As far as I can see there is likely an issue with an widget/plugin that is conflicting with another widget/plugin or the theme. This is most obvious by the broken sidebar graphic … you might notice the end of the sidebar tape is showing at the top right of the content section.
You might consider deactivating all of your plugins to see if this issues resolves itself. Then reactivate plugins one at a time until the issue reoccurs. You will then know where the issue is likely to be found.
Hello Edward. Recently I have stumbled upon your excellent theme and I like it a lot! Everything works on Mozilla and Safari browsers, however, in IE8, the content ID element is not resizing to the height of the contained image, disappears from the body and jumps to the bottom. Is it possible to fix that or an entire design rework is needed?
@Centurion – I generally only support current stable versions of the major Internet browsers but I also appreciate there are still many IE8 users. I am not able to recreate what you are describing or I may not completely understand your issue to recreate it, could you email me screenshots showing the problem? Just use one of the addresses at the bottom of the Contact Us page, thanks!
since i just updated to the latest 1.9 seems that my menu bar / above are all messed up.. any ideas why this happen? please advice…i dont see the sticky notes up there anymore…
@pilotHans – Generally this is resolved with a simple refresh of the page although sometimes it will require a “hard-refresh” depending on your browser cache and id you are usinf a proxy server when accessing the Internet.
