As I noted in yesterday’s post, I have updated what I consider an essential plugin: BNS Login.

Most of the updates for this plugin were in the documentation with some minor code clean-up, so I’ll just post the changelog and carry on with the next plugin to be updated.

Two More Plugins Ready for WordPress 3.0

I just uploaded two more updated versions of plugins that are now proven compatible with WordPress 3.0 in its current release state. They are:

The plugins actually worked as is without any edits although I did add some additional code to the BNS Login plugin for aesthetic reasons more than anything else; and, the BNS SMF Feeds plugin was just fine. You can see their respective changelogs on each plugin’s page.

BNS Login 1.3.1

I have just uploaded to the WordPress Extend Plugins repository the latest version of the WordPress BNS Login plugin. Please note that the current stable version is 1.3.1 which was uploaded only moments after version 1.3 was found to have a minor code error with the new version control function added in this release.

Here is the latest changelog:

Mea culpa, mea culpa – If you updated to version 1.3 and do not see the next automatic update to version 1.3.1 please delete the BNS Login plugin and then re-install. The current version 1.3.1 will be installed and correct the error created in 1.3.

My apologies for any inconveniences this may have inadvertently caused.

Ground Floor 1.1

I have just uploaded the most recent version of our free WordPress theme Ground Floor for review at the WordPress Extend theme repository. Yes! It is a major jump in version numbers from our usual much smaller incremental changes … and with good reason. Here is the changelog for Ground Floor version 1.1:

= Version 1.1 =
  - re-work of the footer widget area into three (3) defined areas
  -- removed the  structures
  -- added BNS-Login plugin functionality to Middle Footer Widget as default.
  - improved IE6 compatibility
  - CSS: hr element -> edited properties: 'border: 1px solid black;' and 'background: #673000;'
  - CSS (new): added BNS Plugins section at end of style.css
The footer.php file was almost completely rewritten to remove the use of tables, which was only a stop-gap to begin with. We chose to add the full functionality of our free WordPress plugin BNS-Login version 1.2 as well into this theme.
(NB: Ground Floor version 1.1 is live as of Aug 24, 2009)

BNS-Login 1.1

The original idea behind the BNS-Login plugin was from editing themes for use with a WordPress MU (WPMU) installation I had set up.  It seemed I kept choosing themes from Extend that did not have a satisfactory link to log into, or access, the dashboard of the blog. It may have been more a personal preference than anything else but the idea has been in the back of my mind since then.
Version 1.1 of the BNS-Login plugin now offers WPMU compatibility in the form of redirecting the log out URL to the main domain (home page) of the WordPress MU installation.

New WordPress Plugin: BNS-Login 1.0

I have been reading in several places of late various discussions of how theme development may be going forward. Either stay the course, or a new method of submission and approval are the essential points being written about.  One of the possible new methods is to follow a similar path as plugin development and implementation; or, in other words, using the SVN repository.
This made me think, “I have no idea how to do that” … Google, codex … ok … it’s starting to sink in. More Google, more codex …
I already had an account under Extend for plugins so I decided to write one. Something simple. I wanted to understand the process of submitting via svn; and, to put a long standing idea to code.
The idea: make a plugin that provided a simple log in method and a link to the dashboard so I would not have to manually edit the theme, almost every theme for that matter, and I did not want to use the meta widget either. Now we have BNS-Login. BNS for BuyNowShop, and Login for the essential function of the plugin.
