Desk Mess Mirrored version 2.0 should be showing up in your Dashboard|Updates later today if you have not already seen it. Go ahead, get the new version! It was great to add the new features and better documentation … I know that’s a bit geeky, but there you go.

It’s not so much that 2.0 is any sort of milestone, per se, as I generally follow a similar version numbering system as WordPress; although I must admit there was definitely a push to do something significant because it is a point-zero release after all.

That being said, I added the functionality of some of the core supported post-formats (aside, quote, and status), which was the big push for this release, as well as improving the overall typography.

Desk Mess Mirrored 2.0-RC1

Just a quick note to those using the Desk Mess Mirrored theme and any Child-Themes of it, the latest version (2.0) is now set to its first Release Candidate (RC). Please feel free to have a look around this site to get an idea of the visual changes (note the new typography) as well as other aesthetic changes.

Also to note, the Multi Child-Theme is also at its 2.0-RC1 version as well. The code for it can be found on GitHub as well: https://github.com/Cais/multi

IF you wish to upgrade with the RC versions, once the final versions of these themes are released you will be able to update as you have done in the past … in the terms of WordPress version 2.0 is newer than version 2.0-RC1, etc.

Desk Mess Mirrored 1.9.1

Yesterday the latest version of Desk Mess Mirrored was approved into the WordPress Extend Themes repository. This version, 1.9.1, is more a maintenance release than anything else and was noted as such on Trac ticket #5877:

I consider this a maintenance release prior to releasing version 2.0.

The diff may give a difference impression as the majority of changes shown in the diff are due to code white-space and layout changes rather than actual code changes.

Desk Mess Mirrored 1.9

This version of Desk Mess Mirrored should correct the issues found in previous versions with the use of Custom Menus. All of the changes and modifications that were introduced in version 1.8.7 are also included. If you use the Child-Theme Multi, please update to its current version 1.9 as well. The changes made in Desk Mess Mirrored version 1.9 have a direct impact on Multi’s functionality.

Desk Mess Mirrored 1.8.7 and Custom Menus

Due to recent changes to the menu styles “Custom Menus” may not be displaying correctly or at all. Thank you to everyone that has emailed or commented reporting this issue. I will address it as soon as possible and release an update as soon as it is ready. Also to note, users of the Child-Theme Multi may also be experiencing a different but related issue. Please update your version of Multi to the latest release, version 1.8.7 … you can download it here: Multi (2453)

Edit: A reversion to 1.8.6.1 has been submitted to the WordPress Extend Theme repository, see version 1.8.7.1. This is a temporary fix until the menu issue can be properly addressed. EAC

Edit: Version 1.8.7.1 is live and virtually identical to version 1.8.6.1 … please “update” and thank you in advance for your patience and perseverance while I sort through this issue and find the most functional and correct solution. EAC

Although I actually finished updating the Child-Theme Multi for Desk Mess Mirrored almost two weeks ago I just realized, with as busy as I have been lately, I had not uploaded the files for public consumption.

So without further ado please enjoy the latest version of Multi (2453).

Desk Mess Mirrored 1.8.3 is Live

Although I actually finished the minor updates to the Desk Mess Mirrored Theme yesterday and one of the other WordPress Theme Review Team members approved it for release into the WordPress Extend Themes repository I forgot to actually approve it in Extend itself.

The process of a theme being approved in Trac and then going live in the WordPress Extend Themes repository is still dependant on human actions to finalize. It’s just a click of a button but it still must be done. Perhaps one day it will reach a point when the entire process can be automated but at this time the consensus of the WordPress Theme Review Team is to maintain this final step as one required to be manually done. There are actually several people that have this access but it is generally managed by Simon Prosser and myself.

So without further ado here is the recent changelog for the theme:

Multi 1.7.2

It was brought to my attention earlier today that the child-theme Multi of Desk Mess Mirrored was out of date and not working correctly. (Thanks, Zac Bolan!)

I have made the necessary updates to fix the broken item as well as updating several other items to bring Multi more into line with Desk Mess Mirrored version 1.7.2; and, in so doing I have set the version of Multi to match Desk Mess Mirrored’s version.

The updated version of Multi is now available for download on the Desk Mess Mirrored theme page here at BuyNowShop.com as of today, Sept 6, 2010.

Multi Downloaded 600 Times

I just noticed earlier today my child-theme Multi of the Desk Mess Mirrored theme has been downloaded 600 times!

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my thanks to the WordPress Download Monitor, its usefulness allows me to easily provide this link to the current version (1.4.5) which also displays a downloads counter: Multi (2453)

I do have plans to update this child-theme to more current standards; and, match the version number of its parent theme, Desk Mess Mirrored. I will also be working towards being able to submit this child-theme, as well as allowing other theme authors to submit child-themes, to the WordPress Extend Themes repository within my capacity as a member of the WordPress Theme Review Team.

Although I will continue to maintain Multi here so it remains available, once WordPress.org opens the theme repository (hopefully to all themes as parents) and Multi meets all the review criteria it will reside there as its primary download source.

Desk Mess Mirrored 1.4.5

Although I have been working on smaller and smaller issues with the Desk Mess Mirrored theme I am still looking for improvements and a finer tuning of the core theme files. Last night I finally said it was time to draw a line in the code and put the update out, thus we now have version 1.4.5 approved for download from the WordPress Extend Themes repository earlier today.
