Yes, but you have a lot of authority. A lot of sites are using your theme and there are a lot of links with buynowshop. You can’t compare with starter blogs…

@Mary – Whether the site is a new or has “a lot of authority” the Google algorithm will work exactly the same. The amount of “h1” tags will not change that.

Hi Cais, I love the theme and I’ve done web development before (mostly ASP classic a few years ago) so I’m reasonably bright, but I’m new to WordPress and I can’t figure out how to remove the Comments sections from the interior pages of my new website. I want to encourage comments on my blog, but not on my Bio or Services pages. I’ve been searching for the tag, but in vain. And I can’t figure out which template corresponds to those pages. A little help please? I’ll buy you a cup of coffee. 🙂

@Tony – By default, comments are turned on for pages (for example your About and Services pages). Choose one to edit. You may need to check in the “Screen Options” tab (top left corner of screen) and make sure the “Discussions” checkbox is checked. Once checked in screen options, it will provide a meta box below the main editor area where you can turn off comments (and most likely pingbacks, too). Rinse and repeat as needed for other pages … this works the same for posts if the need arises.

On this webpage, “To see the recent changelog click here” changes the mouse cursor to a mouse cursor with a question mark but clicking doesn’t appear to do anything (Google Chrome 23.0.1271.97 and Firefox 17.0.1).

@Shane – Thanks for the heads-up. It seems Jetpack has broken yet another plugin. What you are seeing is the BNS Inline Asides plugin, but it appears Jetpack creates a conflict to stop the JavaScript from loading and therefore breaking the plugin on pages. BNS Inline Asides works correctly when Jetpack is not installed and in posts. Now, unfortunately they won’t “fix” whatever it is they have done (yet again) so until I can go through the entire Jetpack plugin and find what they have done this may not work as expected on pages. In the meantime I have changed the shortcode parameters to show the changelog.

@Shane – Just a follow-up; the functionality of BNS Inline Asides has been restored and the slider effect is now working correctly. Thank you again for letting me know there was an issue.

Love the theme, been using it for quite a while now. I’ve just noticed that the comments section of my site is in disarray. I have no idea if it’s an option I enabled or what. Would you mind taking a look and letting me know what you think? http://www.codemonkeycodes.com/2010/01/11/ithumbnailprovider-re-visited/ is one with a bunch of comments. Thanks in advance

Apparently it was the plugin “Social” that allowed people to login with facebook or twitter to post comments. It was a dependency on another twitter integration plugin I was playing with. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I haven’t used the “Social” plugin … not really all that interested in using it, mostly due to being forced to install it to continue using Twitter Tools … not!. Fortunately I found something much better for my purposes.

I am using Desk Mess Mirrored 2.2 and I would like to know where to find the code to delete the “Posted by admin” and “Other posted by admin”. I’d really appreciate your help. This theme is great but for this website I don’t need those comments. Thank you!

    • Edward Caissie says:

@Elias – The “Posted by …” text is generated in the `postdata` class found in all of the template files; and, the “… other posts by …” text is generated (also in all of the template files) near the bottom of the template surrounded by a conditional check for `is_single`. If you plan to remove this you will be making some significant edits to the theme, I would strongly recommend creating a Child-Theme to make these modifications. Future version of the theme may make these items more easily accessible via CSS manipulations but currently the theme does not offer extensive HTML elements that are readily available to use.

@Elias – The drop-down parts of the menu are directly related to how you created your custom menu … or the page hierarchy you are using. There is nothing to edit to display the menu items as this site does, it is the default behavior of the theme.

@Elias – Without seeing the site itself, I cannot even hazard a guess that would be useful. It sounds as though something is “hiding” the drop-down part of the menu from your description … do you have a banner across the top of the content section?

So, I learned that the drop down menus display just fine using the latest versions of Firefox and Google Chrome, but when I use Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 only one drop down menu show completely, the second one down only display half of its shape. I wish I could give you the website address but I am using this theme for internal use only, this website does not have access to the outside world. We have about 90 desktop computers using IE. Any ideas? Thanks!

@Elias – Although I do not generally test for older versions of browsers, I am replying to this comment using IE10 and I did not see any issues with the menu system prior to writing this. If you can provide me any additional information I may be able to recreate the issue but as it is I am not seeing one.

    Hi there,

I have download the theme today and have just one question.
Is there a commentform in the theme (I could not find or I didn’t searched good enough), or do we need to download some plugin for it?
I mean the same as here on your page (love it), with email option and so on.

Thanks in advance and oh ya do I love this theme 🙂

@Heather – First, thank you for choosing Multi as your theme. Now, to the question about widgets … the “default” widgets are all located in the first Sidebar area. If you want to re-order/hide some of these widgets you simply need to drag and drop the appropriate widgets you want to display in the order you want them displayed into the first Sidebar area (see under Appearance > Widgets). You can then re-arrange them further by dragging and dropping them in different order within the Sidebar area.

The vintage papers have been missing from my blog for quite some time and I don’t know how to find them. (I know, sounds a bit like Mary and her Little lamb.) I’ve tried switching to the Child’s Version and paper is still missing. I’ve looked in my Yahoo File Manager and it appears to be there (but I’m not good at working the mgr.) Can you tell me how to resolve? All of my versions of Yahoo & WordPress are up-to-date. I’ve searched the Internet & forums to resolve to no avail.

Thank you for this cool template and for your assistance. I so appreciate it!

Mo worries, Belinda. I haven’t posted anything that suggests to leave a link for me to investigate. I had a quick look at your site and it appears the “Special Recent Posts” widget is the last one in the sidebar and would be the first one I would check to see if there are issues with … or it may be the next one. Start there and see what happens. Good Luck!

@Ron – It looks like you are using a customized version of Desk Mess Mirrored (really cool, too) but it would have been much better to use a Child-Theme (which I am not seeing any evidence of). I would suggest trying to move to a Child-Theme and then update Desk Mess Mirrored to the current version.

    Howdy,

My wife wanted me to install this theme, and so I did. But after looking into the code it was clear, this theme is “inviting to hackers”.

What I mean by that? look in the source (Firefox/Opera..just take your pick) and look what the commenting part is showing to the whole world.

    1) The comment-author- tells what username that user is logged in with.
    2) Together with that, it tells also if the user is administrator/author or whatever logged in user, oops!
    3) When that is not enough it also tells the user-id-.

So when you are administrator and place a comment on your own blog with this theme, the source shows with what name you login, that you are administrator and as cherry on top also which user id that administrator has,WOW.

This shows a BIG shortcomming if it is about security, and sorry to say, done by an ignorant developer wich probably has not much experiences when it is about webdevelopping and security anno 2015.

So till this huge security flaw is fixed I will advice her another theme.
I am curious how long it will take till this gap is fixed. Hoping for all readers here that it will be done darn fast.
Good luck and good evening all.
    this one keeps fingers crossed

@Alan – Thanks for pointing out something that a great many themes already do … and truly, if someone wants to hack your site they could very easily do so without any of the information you purport this theme with 100’s of thousands of downloads provides. Please, by all means, have your wife use another theme; given your opinions I would much prefer you as SEP than someone I might care to help sort through any issues they may have. Best of luck and God speed.

I love this theme and want to continue using it but I’m having a couple issues. (Granted, I’m an idiot when it comes to this ‘behind the scenes’ stuff and might have ruined something with all my poking around). My only problem is that there are no comment or response boxes below my posts and I can’t seem to find where to turn them on! Under Discussion, it appears they are…but they aren’t. I followed an online tutorial which says to click on ‘screen options’ in upper right hand corner but nothing happens when I click on it. Same thing for the ‘help’ button. So, hopefully, Edward, you can save the day! Thank you!
